This year, Irvington High School’s prom cannot be held at the Ardsley Country Club. The date, Thursday, June 6, has been on the calendar for awhile now. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago the Prom Committee realized Ardsley Country Club would not be available to host prom that night.
When the Prom Committee reached out to the venue, Ardsley Country Club said they had unchangeable plans for the entire evening of Thursday, June 6.
“We were trying to figure out how to deal with it, whether we should look for a different location or a different date.” said Ms. Ippolito, English teacher and senior class adviser. Based on the positive feedback from last year, the Prom Committee decided to move the date and keep the location. They decided to hold prom the day before their original date, Wednesday, June 5.
Why Ardsley Country Club? Why not some other venue that’s available? According to the Committee, the Irvington High School junior and senior prom was held at Ardsley Country Club last year, and students loved the venue. Compared to previous years, the country club was “a good balance between having a better venue and not having to pay more” according to Ms. Ippolito.
Anneliese Parke, a senior, said, “The Ardsley Country Club is a beautiful venue, so if people want that venue I think it’s worth it to move the date.”
Ms. Ippolito and the committee reached out to students asking for their opinions and conflicts with the new date.
“The other day I reached out to the junior class and the senior class to ask for conflicts for that date, and it seems like it’s gonna work.”
The Prom Committee has also reached out to students asking for their opinions on the new date.
