Student Council Election Results

After a harrowing 2026-27 student government election, the winners have been announced.

The school-wide president is Jonah Tubman, who was class president for the Class of ‘27 for all of their three previous high school years. He campaigned through both digital and print platforms. Tubman’s Instagram garnered over 270 followers, and his creative campaign posters were hung throughout IHS.

 “I am happy with my victory, and with the decision of the people,” said Tubman. “I have big plans for the student council next year. And I say thank you to everyone and am looking forward to what’s to come.”

As for the other school wide positions, Petra Rancic won vice-president uncontested; Anya Foley won secretary/treasurer uncontested; Ashley Shapiro won Media Liaison; Ally Nghiem won Associate Media Liaison; and Anna Rushton won 2-year School Board Liaison.

For the class of 2027, Justin Barger won the presidency; Griffin Warner won vice president in an uncontested race; and Nico D’Alessio won secretary/treasurer uncontested. August Mollo and Navin Vasudev won representative positions.

“It was a really competitive year, but I’m really proud of what I achieved, and I’m excited to see what the student council can do this year,” said class President Justin Barger. 

Isabelle O’Reilly won the class of 2028 president; Paul Van Haetsdaele won secretary/treasurer; and Brooke Lee and Henry McFeetors won representative positions. 

For the class of 2029, Annika Ziff-Glueck won the presidency; Marina Foley won for vice president; Elijah Sirulnik won secretary/treasurer; and Paxton Kitcharayothin and Lucas Kaye won representatives. 

“As always it’s definitely a stressful process,” said President Ziff-Glueck. “But it all worked out in the end. I’m excited to work with this year’s student council. I think it’s a really great group of people and I’m looking forward to what’s in store.”

The class of 2030 election had the largest turnout of candidates. In the end, Henry Friend won the presidency; Miles Cohn won vice presidency; Kai Foley won the position of secretary/treasurer; and Naomi Frechter and Ryan Mann won representative.
