BB Gun Report Triggers Campus Lockdown

By Clara Stern

On May 11th at 11:22am, Irvington High School and Middle School were placed on lockdown due to a report of a weapon on campus.

The report came from a BOCES staff member, and the weapon — a highly realistic BB Gun — was quickly confiscated by IHS staff. The gun was taken before the police arrived on the scene.

The police brought the individual who possessed the weapon, a 14-year-old student, into custody, and later said, “No threats were made by the student at any time during the incident. The situation was quickly contained, and there is no current threat to the school community.”

The lockdown turned into a hold-in-place at 11:45am and ended at 11:50am.
