Irvington Football Struggles Continue

by Kale Heuter

The Irvington Football team continues to struggle following a 42-12 loss against Byram Hills this Saturday.

This is the 4th loss in a row, extending their record to 0-4. With not a single game this season being within single digits, the football team has struggled to score and stop points. The future remains bleak for the Bulldogs, with over 15 players on the roster being injured. Players are dropping like flies from an Achilles tear, a fractured ankle, and a season-ending knee injury. If these injuries continue, the team might be unable to attend games later in the season due to just not having enough players to take on the field.

The team is struggling, players are injured, but the team still has a lot of heart. Senior Captain Marcus Canton said, “Despite the injuries, everyone who is available to play has been giving 110% and I’m proud of the boys who have stepped up.” Captain Mason Canton added, “We always keep our heads high, even when we lose. Despite our record, we’re building a great core for the future.”

Time will tell if the Bulldogs can win a game this season, but playoff chances seem to be fading away along with the health of the players.
