Track Star Mason Canton Spotlight

Senior Mason Canton is an outstanding athlete, who completed his final Winter Track season with lots of impressive accolades.

Firstly, Canton placed sixteenth in the State Qualifier for the 55 meter.

Canton also earned the impressive feat of being the Section 1 Class C Champion in the 55 meter with a time of 6.79 seconds. This has always been a goal for him. Throughout his career, Canton has come close to becoming the champion and finally completed his goal senior year.

Not only did Canton succeed in the 55 meter. He was also fourth in the league and fifth in the section for the 300 meter. This shows his versatility as a runner, which will allow him to have even more success in the Spring Track season.

Canton said, “I’m really happy with my results this season, a few months ago I never thought being this successful was possible”.

Canton broke some of his own personal records. He broke his personal record in the 55 meter with 6.75 seconds and in the 300 meter with 38.36 seconds. This is a result of all of the hard work Canton has put in throughout his career and his very experienced coaches who led him to where he is now.

Canton isn’t finished yet. He still has his Spring Track season to obtain more accolades and break more records. 

Before going into his final spring track season Canton said, “I’m looking forward to getting one more chance to improve my personal bests this spring. I hope to keep building on the momentum from the winter and win more titles”.
