Coach Beth Staropoli, better known as “Coachie,” has made the decision to step out of her coaching positions here at Irvington. After coaching lacrosse for six years and field hockey for five, she will be moving on from her multi-sport coaching career at Irvington.

Coachie’s love for watching athletes grow both on and off the field has always been clear to those who know her.

When asked what she will miss most about coaching, Coach Staropoli answered, “Taking a group of athletes and coaching them into a team that works as a unit encourages each other both on and off the field, and realizes that they are only one part of the bigger picture, and without their teammates, success would be impossible to achieve.”

With this mindset, Coachie has been able to shape many Irvington athletes into the people they are today, and she has left a great impact on the Irvington community as a whole.

Coach Staropoli has always wanted to live in a big college town. With this, she will be moving to State College, Pennsylvania this fall. After retirement, she is also looking forward to traveling and spending more time with family.

As of now, there is no word on who may be taking Staropoli’s place as the varsity field hockey head coach.
