The boys varsity soccer team is off to a fantastic start to their 2021 season.

The boys went undefeated with a record of 7-0 up until September 28th when they dropped to Briarcliff with a score of 2-1. They now stand with a record of 7-1.

Of course, this doesn’t mean they are out of the picture for sectionals. Sophomore player Brandon Dhanoolal mentioned that he and his teammates are working towards winning sectionals for the first time in Irvington’s history. With how well the team is doing this year, their goal looks very achievable.

This season has been a major uplift compared to last year in terms of COVID restrictions.

COVID took a big toll on the season last year, and the team seems very excited about the fact that masks are no longer required, and more games are being played.

This season looks almost entirely back to normal when set side by side to last season. With the new bleachers at Meszaros Field and spectators and fans welcome to watch, we seem to be back to normal when it comes to the sports world.
