Nothing Gets Past Cori: 300 Saves of Glory

By Ryder Haynes

Cori Castellano, Senior Varsity Girls Soccer Goalie, completed a huge milestone with 300 career saves on home turf at the Mez.

She brings her team dedication and motivation to always try hard and do what’s best for her team. That is what she showed through her perseverance and discipline to get to this great milestone.

Cori has played on the Girls Varsity Soccer team for quite a while and always was a team player no matter what. Playing certain teams was always a challenge because of the amount of goals scored by the opposition or too few to try and save because of our own soccer team scoring too much.

But as the goalie, Cori passed through these challenges and rose to the occasion by not letting the opponents concede as many goals.

The 300 saves highlights Cori’s significant impact she has on the team. It shows growth for the Girls Soccer team and motivation to keep pushing for more milestones not just for Cori and the Girls Soccer team, but also for all of Irvington

“Ever since freshman year I was determined to reach 300 varsity career saves. At the time it felt impossible, but I worked incredibly hard to meet my personal goal and can finally say I didn’t just do it, I surpassed it!” Said Cori Castellano.

This milestone of hers was completed through the dedication and hard work she put in throughout her high school career. Not only has she got this milestone but she will continue to get more saves as a Senior and push her limits.

This represents not only just an accomplishment but impact to a team, and as a player. This can make it so in the future others in the same place as she was, will strive for this goal themselves.

But as she finishes off her Senior year, she will have made an impact to the team, to herself, for always striving for success and dedication, and to the future of Highschoolers who have the same goals and determination as she did when she was a Freshman.
