Cross Country Mid Season Review

Saturday the fourteenth the Irvington Cross Country team raced at Coach Barry’s home course in Long Island. The boys and girls teams had four different races with each grade running on Saturday.

The first race of the day, and to start the year were the seniors. Lohud watch list runner Anish Joshi led Irvington’s pack coming in third overall in the race. Two great runners coming behind Anish were Luke Mitchell and Scott Zinman. With their great race, the seniors team placed 4th overall in their race.

The juniors team placed second overall in their race with Declan Lyons leading the pack getting sixth place in his race. Declan was followed shortly after by Ethan Gartlan and Michael Carron.

Declan Lyons added, “I thought our team ran very well for not knowing this course. I think this year could be one of our best years yet, And I look forward to the rest of the season.”

Next were the sophomores, The top 3 runners for the sophomores were Glen Feng, Ian Kwon, and Davin Toeman they ran a great race and will continue to perform throughout the year.  

The freshman were the last to race, they had a great race to start the year. DJ Uffer was Irvington’s first finish with 2 quick Irvington runners who were Sawyer Stein and Paul Van Haetsdaelea a few places behind. 

The Irvington Cross country team came in second place at the John Smith annual invitational.
