Boys Tennis Off to a Strong Start

By Leila Schneider

The Irvington Boys Tennis team has had a strong start to their season with a 2-1 record including wins against Hastings and Blindbrook and an unfortunate loss to Briarcliff.

A large portion of their success can be credited to senior Eviatar Fretchter and his brother, sophomore Eldad Frechter who lead the team in singles and doubles.

Eviatar plays solo in the number one spot, and Eldad plays doubles in the top spot with his partner, freshman Connor Maglienti. Eviatar and Eldad both won their respective matches against both Blindbrook and Hastings.

The team is facing a new challenge this year after moving up a class, but their record shows that they’ll have no problem adjusting to the new teams, especially with the leadership and strength of the Frechter brothers.

Eldad says, “I think moving up a class definitely made the competition harder, but the team is looking great and I’m very excited for the rest of the season.”

Today, the team is traveling out to Rye Neck to take on the Panthers. It will be a difficult match, but the Frechter brothers and the rest of the team are prepared to give their best. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of their season and are excited to see the Frechter brothers lead the team to more victories.
