On Saturday September 17, Irvington football won their first away game at Rye Neck with a score of 28-0. After a disappointing loss at home, the Bulldogs were able to bounce back on the road with a convincing shutout win.
Led by Junior Captain Marcus Canton, who led the offense with 101 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, Irvington dominated in a well earned win.
Irvington jumped out to a 21-0 lead by the half, and never looked back. The defense played a great game, forcing 2 interceptions, and 2 turnovers on downs, and keeping Rye Neck scoreless. When asked about the win, Defensive End Steven Rittmeyer said “A lot of work and preparation went into this game on both sides of the ball. We all worked very hard to get this win, and the shutout was a good showing of our hard work.”
The Bulldogs lost to Tuckahoe following their win over Rye Neck. With the next game being their homecoming, they look to move forward and take down Croton Harmon on Saturday, October 1st.
