After Claudia Rodriguez, a long time guidance counselor and a valuable member of the Irvington High School community, sadly passed away last April, the school community wanted to create a way to honor her.
This week, the National Honor Society has been selling Shamrock Grams, bags of candy for $1 each, as a way to raise money for the Claudia Rodriguez Fund student scholarship. The club will also be selling wristbands to continue to raise money for the cause.
Friend and co-worker Ms. Jeanine Hart wrote, “We hope to honor Claudia through the establishment of this scholarship, an opportunity to help students pursue their dreams, as she always did.”
Ms. Rodriguez was described by Dr. Harrison as, “a talented counselor and passionate individual who impacted the lives of thousands of students. Thanks to her commitment to her students, many of their lives are forever better as a result of her support, guidance and encouragement.”
Junior Josie Dring spoke very highly of the Shamrock Grams while she was filling one out to send to her friend.
“I am so excited to buy Shamrock Grams for my friends because I think it’s a wonderful way to support the Claudia Rodriguez Scholarship Fund while also showing appreciation to my friends.”
