Last Saturday, Superintendent Dr. Harrison informed the Irvington community that due to positive COVID-19 tests both the middle school and high school would be closed for in-person learning until Friday, January 15.
This marks the first high school closure due to COVID since the school reopened for hybrid learning.
Dr. Harrison wrote, “Due to the number of staff members who are required to quarantine, based upon NYSDOH guidelines and the guidance of the District’s Medical Director, the District’s ability to properly staff and supervise the Campus is deeply impacted.”
Three individuals within the district tested positive for COVID-19. There is a case at Dows Lane, the middle school, and the high school.
Dr. Harrison wrote in an email blast, “It is important to highlight that these cases are examples of the transmission of the virus outside of school and were not spread within the schools.”
Dows Lane is still open for in-person learning, and those who were exposed to the individual must quarantine.
Until Friday, all middle school and high school students have synchronous remote learning everyday.
