On October 25th, longtime Irvington Middle School volunteer, Mary Bachrach, peacefully passed away.
Ms. Bachrach started her career in Irvington in 1978, as a middle school teacher. She retired in 1999; however, she continued to be involved in the Irvington community as the Student Council advisor until 2011. She was also part of the Sunshine Committee for a while.
On June 18, the Board of Education approved to rename the IMS school store as The John & Mary Bachrach IMS School Store. Both, Mr. and Ms. Bachrach were very active in volunteering in the school store
Ms. Bachrach was a very kind and respected individual in the Irvington community. Sophia DeCecchis, who volunteered at the school store a few years ago, says “volunteering was fun. It was nice to hang out and help people when they came by.”
Spending time with Ms. Bachrach was always a pleasure and she will be missed in the Irvington community.
