Spring is here, and with that comes the start of our Irvington Boys Baseball season.

Led by first time head coach Rocco Cipriano, the Bulldogs have their first game Thursday, March 30th. The team is looking to improve on last year, and effort and toughness have been emphasized by Coach Cipriano.

“My goal for this season is to get my guys to compete for 21 outs and every pitch. We have many returners which will only be beneficial when it comes to game experience. Another goal is to make noise in the section. Be competitive and give full effort each and every game,” says Coach Cipriano.

He has high hopes for his players this year as well.

“One player I feel will have a big impact and that is also a leader on this team is senior Alec Schrader,” said Coach Cipriano. “He is an engine that moves everything. His high intensity and constant effort can be very contiguous. With him representing those qualities it allows our underclassmen to learn and grow into that role to pass down to future players in the program.”

The team has lots of young talent along with the upperclassman experience. Coach Cipriano says another player he expects to have a big impact is sophomore Scott Edwards.

“Scott is an all around baseball player with a high skill level. He leads by example and is always supporting his teammates. He will anchor our outfield in center as well as bat lead off for us.”
