Undefeated! VGVB Stays Perfect

by Melanie Martinez

After winning the League Championship last year, the varsity girls volleyball team is off to a great start this year. So far this season the girls have a record of 9-0.

On September 20th, the girl’s volleyball team won their homecoming game against Hamilton after winning the 5th set for a 3-2 win.

The student section was loud and proud, repping their wacky theme. Many dressed in pajamas, fun hats, and costumes to show their support and school spirit.

On Monday, September 27th, the volleyball team celebrated senior day to show their gratitude towards the graduating class of 2022. This year’s team is filled with seniors such as Dani Heller, Scarlett Whitney, Sydney Birkhahn, Amanda Gilbert, and Jordan Lenz.

Before the start of the game, players Emma Friedman (sophomore), Janet Mendoza (junior), Meika Tomita (junior), and Lizzie DeYonker (junior) shared heartfelt speeches to their fellow teammates and decorated the campus gym with photos and inspiring words to make the day extra special for them.

They played Hastings High School and ended the memorable night with a 3-2 win.

There is no doubt that this season’s volleyball team is strong and hungry for a second League Championship title.
