Could another snow day mean school in July?

Our district allows for four emergency closure days in anticipation of bad weather or other situations. But currently, due to snow and an incident involving police activity, we have used six days, two over the allotted amount.

Therefore, school days will be added May 25th and June 22nd, according procedures outlined by the approved district calendar and stated by Superintendent Kris Harrison in an email to the community.

Having school on June 22  extends the school year by a day, as under normal circumstances rating day is a day for teachers to grade final exams. This mainly impacts elementary and middle school students who will need to attend school on that day. It is unclear what the expectations will be for high schoolers since this falls after the Finals week.

If we are forced to use additional emergency closure days, then we would likely shorten the length of Spring Break, but this will need Board approval. Dr. Harrison advised staff and families to keep this fact in mind when planning a possible vacation.
