Yes, Mike Francesa is back on WFAN to make rants on some of the most intriguing sports topics. After just fewer than a five month absence, Francesa came out of retirement and is back of WFAN on the radio show, “Mike’s On”, which airs from 3:00PM to 6:30PM on Monday through Friday each week. On his show, he receives calls from athletes and fans to ask for his opinion on sports.
On Tuesday, May 1st, 2018, Francesa made his return on WFAN. In his first day back, he received calls from: New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright, and former New York Yankees’ legend Alex Rodriguez.
Throughout his whole career, Francesa has been known to make many famous rants. On rare occasions, he makes rants on issues outside of sports. Who could forget the rant he had on Harambe the gorilla? Harambe was shot and killed when he was near a baby who had fallen in to his pen.
According to Usatoday, Francesa said, “We live in a world now where you are going to be more concerned with the gorilla than you are the little boy? What is wrong with you people!?”
After Francesa retired, he told CBS, “Thirty years of this has been a blessing. It’s been a gift. It’s more than anybody could’ve ever hoped for. I’ve had the best job in the world.”
During his 30-year stint at WFAN, Francesa had a big show with Chris Russo called “Mike and the Mad Dog” which lasted 19 years. The show was so big that ESPN recently made a “30 for 30” film on the history of the show.
Francesa, 64, recently made his return on WFAN and fans are thrilled. Francesa always entertains and never disappoints. He makes people laugh and provides strong opinions. Fans and WFAN should be nothing but thrilled to have come out of retirement and resume his work at WFAN for many years to come.
