On April 2, 2026, Olivia Rodrigo announced her long anticipated third album, titled you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The album, set to be released on June 12th, 2026, will feature 13 tracks. It will be produced with Dan Nigro, who also produced her two previous albums, SOUR and GUTS.
This album is a shift from her past two albums. First off, this is the singer’s first album that is not titled with a single 4-letter word. During the months prior to the announcement of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, many fans speculated that the album would be titled LOVE or LUCK. Rodrigo is also shifting away from her typical color palette, transitioning from purple being the main color of her album and image, to soft pinks.
“I know some people are upset about her switch in aesthetics, but I personally like it because I think that it is going to make the album unique,” said junior Dahlia Annenberg. “I’m super excited for her to explore new themes.”
Secondly, rather than exploring the more angsty, break-up fueled themes of her previous two albums, this album, as indicated by the title, will explore themes of sadness during love. This new album will reveal a softer side of her, which is shocking fans, since they were expecting something more similar to her past two albums.
“It’s different from what she’s done in the past, but I think it’s going to be really good because it shows us a new side of her that fans haven’t seen before,” said junior Kayla Zhinin.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see what Rodrigo’s third album will hold. “I am excited to see a change in her music, as her last 2 albums were similar,” said sophomore Chloe Annicharico. “It will be interesting to see a softer side of her.”
