For the first time, the IHS marching band took a trip down to Dows Lane to play at the Halloween parade. The band was there for about an hour while the kids in Dows Lane walked in the parade with their teachers. It was a cloudy and windy day, but the band was still able to play outside.
“I thought it went really well,” said band teacher Ms. McCumber. “Considering it was the first time, and the amount of music we played, with the halloween stuff and our other stuff, the whole band just did an incredible job.”
Additionally, she commented on how “I really loved the sound quality and the professionalism, and overall they just went with the flow.”
Overall, she had no negative comments about the performance, only that “the wind was a challenge.”
When asked whether he enjoyed playing at the event Freshmen drummer Joshua Surchin said “yes I did. The students were really chill.”
Freshman trombonist Timothy Jacoby agreed, saying “I loved all of the costumes, it was so nice to see all of the cool and unique costumes. It reminded me of when I used to go to Dows Lane.”
During this event, the seniors also read stories to the students at Dows Lane. The staff at Dows Lane were very appreciative of the band and seniors.
Overall, the event was a massive success (weather aside) and everyone involved did a flawless job. The band hopes to do it again next year.
