The Mark Sanchez Scandal

by Jarrett Ourman

On October 4th, former NFL quarterback and current FOX analyst Mark Sanchez was stabbed in Indianapolis at 12:30 am. He was in town for the coverage of the Colts vs Raiders game. The stabbing was a result of a parking issue between him and a truck driver. Later that evening, it was released that he was arrested.

The 38 year old Mark Sanchez went to confront the 69 year old truck driver Perry Tole over a parking concern. Tole claimed that Sanchez unlawfully entered his vehicle and physically blocked him along with shoving him which led to Tole taking his pepper spray out. The incident carried on and eventually led to Tole stabbing Sanchez.

Footage showed Sanchez stumbling around, seemingly under the influence. Along with this it was reported that he smelled like alcohol.

After being stabbed Sanchez was rushed to the hospital where he would undergo life saving surgery performed by Dr. Lindsey Mossler. While in recovery from the surgery Sanchez was arrested in the hospital on charges including battery with serious bodily injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication.

On the 12th of October, he was released from Marion County Jail after posting bond.

Adding to the story, Tole filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez for assault and battery. Along with this, he filed one against FOX for neglecting hiring, retention, and supervision, seeking damages for physical and emotional trauma.

Sanchez played quarterback for the University of Southern California in college. In the NFL, he was drafted by the New York Jets, where he spent most of his career. Sanchez gained notoriety and infamy in the NFL world after being the subject of the “butt fumble”, where he made contact with an offensive lineman’s backside, fumbling the ball on a Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots.
