When summer ends and leaves start to fall, it’s a clear indication that the spooky season is upon us and it is time for Halloween!
Some people like to go outside to a pumpkin patch or maybe a nearby festival, but one of the most accessible and cozy options that many turn to is movies. But finding the best movies to watch can be time-consuming. Here are some of the most popularly enjoyed Halloween movies that you can watch this fall!
Hocus Pocus is a classic comedy movie that features three witches who are resurrected in modern-day Salem after 300 years. Their goal is to try and suck the youth out of children to make themselves look young again, and it’s up to a teenager named Max, his sister, Dani, and their friend Allison to try and stop them. This is a great movie to watch with friends and family and effectively puts the audience in the Halloween spirit.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is another classic. Although its title suggests a different holiday, the vibes are very much Halloween-y. This movie is about a skeleton who stumbles upon “Christmas Town” and tries to take over the holiday but ends up learning the true meaning of joy and identity.
“I love this movie,” says Jade Beasley, a sophomore at IHS. “I used to watch it so much when I was younger with my family. It used to scare me a little, but I think that just adds on to what makes it a Halloween movie.”
Many cherish the television series “Charlie Brown” for its nostalgic and calming visuals. But as well as the comics and television episodes, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a popular movie that many viewers can enjoy. In the movie, the peanuts celebrate Halloween with trick-or-treating, a costume contest and a party. But while everyone else is enjoying the festivities, Linus sits in the pumpkin patch waiting for a mythical great pumpkin to appear and give him gifts.
Halloween is one of the most festive and popular holidays in the U.S, and watching movies is a great way to get in the Halloween spirit!
