As the cross country season comes to a close, winter track commences on November, 14th. Before winter track can start, cross country sectionals still need to take place. Many are looking forward to a fresh start while others are trying to improve upon their skills.
Last season, Irvington finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in both men’s and women’s divisions in sectionals. Considering the pedigree Irvington’s running has, this comes as no surprise.
This year, Irvington will have stiff competition against neighboring towns such as Bronxville, as their boys’ and girls’ teams both finished first in division C.
Due to the variety of activities within winter track, it is hard to fully access how the team is doing as a whole. Despite this, there are some people such as Noah Strow, a sophomore runner at Irvington High School who is excited to participate and improve upon certain skills.
Particularly, he’s looking forward “to shorter races from cross country.” Winter track also includes shorter forms of long distance running which benefits from the hard work being put into the cross country season.
According to Strow, he “seeks to improve my 800 times” and “get better at pole vault”, another event within the confines of winter track.
