On Friday, eight people were killed at Travis Scott’s “Astrofest” concert when security failed to contain a man who was injecting people with some sort of drug. Others wound up being killed as a result of getting trampled. The festival was named after Travis Scott’s 2018 album “ASTROWORLD”. The Paw Print reached out to some IHS students for their opinions on the festival:
Travis Scott enjoyer Steven Rittmeyer said, “it was terrible and it was extremely tragic. He should pay for medical bills. He should take further precautions in security and capacity.”
Casual Travis Scott fan Cyrus “Cy-Ki” Kibel said when asked about the incident, “I think that the people who set up the concert are to blame and that there should be more security on the premises. It was unacceptable that there were people injecting others with drugs. I think Travis is partially to blame for not calming down the audience and ending the show as quickly as possible.”
According to TMZ, Scott is offering to cover the funeral costs for those who died at the festival. Scott is also planning to refund Astrofest attendees and he canceled his appearance at the “Day N Vegas” concert. According to Khou, Julian Kimble, a writer for the Washington Post, said “I’ve seen him tell people, like ‘Don’t listen to security. Forget security. This is for y’all.’” As time goes on, we will see how Scott handles the situation and the future of his career.
