IHS 2022-2023 School Council Elections

The 2022-2023 Student Council elections are approaching. Most Student Council positions are currently contested with only a few candidates running unopposed. 

For the first time in three years, student council speeches will be in person and will be held on Tuesday, June 7th. 

The speeches will be very important to learn more about the candidates that are involved in contested elections. They will also provide the voters with the most current information about what the candidates plan to do in the upcoming school year. 

The two candidates running for school president are Lizzie DeYonker and James Heins. The positions of school vice president, secretary/treasurer and media liaison are all uncontested. 

The candidates for the Student Council positions allocated to the class of 2023 are running unopposed.  The two candidates running for Class of 2024 president are Gloria Song and Alea Gray. The candidates running for the Class of 2024 vice president are Adan Mercado, Lucy Monness and Amanda Berry. The remainder positions for the class of 2024 are all unopposed. 

The candidates running for the class of 2025 president are Olivia Liu, Scarlett Zumbro, and Tane Kim. The candidates running for sophomore vice president are Alexandra Coutman and Sadie McRae. The candidates running for sophomore secretary/treasurer are Henry Lobel and Arya Bose. Lastly, the candidates running for Class of 2025 representatives are Caitlin Kropp, Jack Silverman and Annie McFeetors.

The Class of 2026 student council positions are all heavily contested. The candidates running for president are Cori Castellano, Sophia Im, Alyssa Magallon, Jayin Sawhney, Julia Welter and Rem Wise. The candidates running for vice president are Sebestian Rafferty, Ryan Cherry, Griffin Handfield,  Kevin Lyons and Emma Silverman. The candidates running for secretary/treasurer are Lucy Acharekar, Max Bloom, Daisy Hodges, Madeline O’Reilly, Sabrina Pasternak. The candidates running for both representative positions are Jelena Herceg, Lila Nolan, Laiba Shaukat, Luke Calabrese, Natalie Rushford.
