‘9A Eats’ Features Fine Food Truck Dining

By Ben Hymowitz

In September, Westchester welcomed a new food truck dining spot called “9A Eats.” As stated in the name, 9A Eats is located off of 9A, or Saw Mill River Road, in Elmsford. 9A Eats’ food truck options change daily.

Some options include, Irvington local Jimmy Soft Serve, Crazy Taco Mex, El Patio, Ramblin Coffee, Bazodee Street Foods, and a lot more!

I have had the chance to try El Patio and Jimmy Soft Serve.

El Patio is a food truck based in Yonkers serving Dominican fare. Their menu includes Empanadas, Chicharrón de Cerdo, Chicharrón de Pollo, Charbroiled half and whole chicken, Pernil, and a dish called Mangu con Los Tres Golpes.

I tried the Charbroiled Chicken, the Chicharron de Pollo, and the Pernil empanadas over the many times I have been there. The chicken is moist and tender with a perfect amount of seasoning, the empanadas are some of the best I’ve ever had, and the Chicharon de Pollo are great as well. The pink dipping sauce compliments the chicken and the empanadas really well. I would recommend going over to El Patio whenever you have the chance. My rating is a solid 9.4/10.

As many Irvington locals know, Jimmy Soft Serve is a classic, whether you’ve gotten ice cream from Jimmy at Matthession, at a birthday party, or in this case 9A Eats. My usual order is a Black and White Milkshake. It really never disappoints. The shake is rich and creamy but not overpoweringly sweet. I give it a 9.5/10.

The food truck lineup is updated on their Instagram (@9a_eats) or on the web at 9aeats.com. My advice to you – get over to 9A Eats whenever you can
