The Irvington Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9:00am to 1:30pm outside of Main Street School. The market is a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy local food while spending time with family and friends. The food is always spectacular, however, there are definitely a couple of fan favorites worth mentioning.
Sarah Weiss, a Farmers Market enthusiast, says, “I love running into my friends there, it’s a nice community spot on a Sunday, and I think I get great items I wouldn’t get out of the supermarket.” Not only is the market a great place to reconnect with friends, it’s also an ideal spot to find unique and fresh food.
When asked what she normally purchases at the Market, Sarah says, “We often build a dinner on Sunday night around the groceries we get from the farmers market.” Meat from FarmEats and fish from Pura Vida Fish often make good dinners, as they are always fresh and of good quality.
Leah Tubman, a 10th grader at Irvington High School, works at LeRoux Trading CO, and says her favorite thing about the Farmers Market is that, “I like to talk to all the different people who make things and hear why they started, and what made them want this as a job.” Leah, as well as countless others, appreciates the kindness and passion each stand owner has for their job.
If you’re looking for bread products, the “universal favorite” is the Bien Cuit Bakery, which has a variety of goods, stretching from everyday sourdough to almond croissants. However, if you’re on the hunt for a good meal, DoughCo Bagels and the Dough Nation Pizza Truck are also great choices.
Madura Farms is the preferred stand for produce, but be prepared because they are cash only. Additionally, AYA Hummus has products in a variety of flavors that would be a great addition to a sandwich or platter. If you’re more in the mood for breakfast food, White Mustache Yogurt has phenomenal flavors with large portions.
If you want to walk around the market with something in hand, Teagevity is a great place to grab a drink, or pay a visit to Doc Pickle which has entire containers or a simple pickle on a stick.
The Farmers Market is a staple of Irvington and as time goes, different booths will grow and rise in popularity, however, as of right now, I heavily recommend giving some of these a try.
