The girls varsity softball team has remained determined while facing difficult teams throughout the season. The seniors captains, Emily Hanlon, Natalie Kletter, Eva Gilbert, and Julia Weber, have been helpful role models while encouraging their teammates.
After losing significant seniors last year, the players have been working to rebuild the team. Coach Resendez has been an essential leader in keeping the players optimistic and working to improve their skills during every practice according to the team.
With the addition of a powerful Albertus Magnus, the league became even more challenging this season, but players were inspired to put in more effort during practices.
Sophomore Lara Greene said, “Even though we haven’t done that well during the season, our team remains hopeful before each of our games. My teammates are very supportive and are always motivating each other, while having a lot of fun.”
The team’s season finished up on May 18, and the players are already looking forward to next spring and recruiting upcoming underclassmen.
Sophomore Pearl Chalsen remarked, “Being a younger team, we originally struggled to fill in the gaps from the people who graduated last year. But by the end of the season, we all came together. Hopefully next year, since we are all used to playing with each other, we can continue to improve.”
