River City Grille Stabbing Shocks Irvington Students

Students at Irvington High School were shocked to learn the news of the stabbing that occurred on April 10th at the River City Grille restaurant.

The incident unfolded early Tuesday afternoon, where Rosa Ramirez, 27, stabbed 39-year old coworker Bonifacio A. Rodriguez following an altercation in the kitchen. The husband and father of two teenage daughters was rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

“It was scary hearing that this happened at a place where students work and lots of Irvington families eat,” said Cameron Soravilla, a senior at Irvington High School.

Senior Elizabeth Hargraves added, “It’s especially sad to hear [Rodriguez] had two daughters. Imagining yourself in their shoes is terrifying to think about. I’m shocked this has happened in our community”

The owner of River City Grille, Bobby Manzi, has since set up a GoFundMe page for the Rodriguez family. Currently, the page has raised $23,345 of the $25,000 goal.

“Bonifacio Rodriguez was a dedicated, hardworking, trustworthy and gentle human being. To lose him to such a senseless act is shocking and the River City family is devastated,” Manzi writes on the River City Grille Facebook page.

This incident marks the first murder in Irvington since 1974.
