Bulldogs Compete at Academic Challenge Nationals

By Ava Franks

Last weekend Irvington’s Academic Challenge Team competed at Nationals in Washington, D.C. The team-consisting of Rishi Madabhushi, Jerry Wu, Zach Rosman, and Esha Shenoy-had been preparing for the competition for quite some time.

Prior to the event, the students practiced and studied for months, trying to give themselves the best chance entering Nationals. In the end, their rigorous hard work paid off. The team won all of their six preliminary matches, going on to Sunday’s playoffs ranked number two overall. They then won three of these playoff rounds, including an exciting comeback victory in the semi-finals.

Irvington’s Academic Challenge Team ultimately lost to the winning school, Parkland from Pennsylvania, during the finals. Nonetheless, they did an amazing job overall and the Irvington community is very proud of them.
