Clubs are an essential part of student life at Irvington, and interesting clubs are always emerging. Clubs are a fun way to engage in your interests and hobbies with other like-minded people. It’s also a way to connect with your peers, like the Alianza club, the AAPI club, and more. Many clubs also give you a chance to give back to others who are less fortunate, like Glam4Good, where students spend hours making hygiene bags.
Popular clubs here at Irvington include the DECA Club, Paw Print Club, National Honor Society, and Debate and Drama Club.
DECA is the best club for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders. Through competitions, leadership trips, activities, and networking, you’ll build skills to prepare yourself for your future in business.
Brady Andrella, a IHS student, says “I joined DECA because it looks good on college applications and I can get better at business skills.”
The drama club also lets you build real-world skills, make friends, and bring two full-scale productions to life each year, the perfect club for aspiring actors.
You can build your public speaking skills and debate global issues with Debate Club, where you’ll team up to construct powerful arguments, and compete in exciting regional tournaments with your team. Nina Isom and Mila Spekter, two sophomores, joined because they “like arguing and we’re good at it.”
The National Honor Society recognizes students who help our school prosper. NHS members engage in tutoring and community service projects.
Finally, another club that may catch your attention is the Paw Print Club. With an all new look from last year, the club is more business oriented, and members can boost their college resumes by running marketing campaigns, designing ads, and making sales strategies to help the paw print run and succeed.
There are many more interesting clubs that we have here at Irvington, but these were just some of the yearly favorites. Make sure to make this school year as enjoyable and productive as possible and join a club.
