Do you ever feel bored or stuck while writing? Writing Studio class is a great way to use creative thinking, increase your ability to use descriptive language, and better your public speaking expertise.
Several teachers are in favor and encourage students to actively participate in writing studio. One writing studio teacher, Ms. Lentini voiced her approval for the class stating how it “gives a chance to explore and experiment” with different types of writing. Ms. Lentini also dubbed the writing studio as being a place where students can nurture their public speaking skills: “the writing community studio ensures everyone can share their work without risk.”
Fellow writing studio teacher Ms. Gacevic also weighed in on the benefits of writing studio. Ms Gacevic explained how the class engages in several genres such as “film reviews, writing argumentative essays, poetry and creative writing.”
You don’t have to enjoy ELA to be passionate about writing studio. Writing studio offers students a chance to find their love for writing in a low stakes environment. This specific environment is what has attracted many students to join writing studio. One passionate student, Allegraa explained how they were once “nervous” to share their work but writing studio allowed them to “really open up.”
Despite some students arguing how writing studio doesn’t have a purpose and just adds to an already hefty workload, they should give the class another chance. One student said how initially they believed that writing studio would just be “some regular English class,” but later learned that it was “a lot more than that.”
Writing studio offers the opportunity to learn skills that aren’t taught in a generic english class. Ultimately, a writing studio is a perfect opportunity for growing writers to embrace their skills and better themselves when it comes to writing absolutely anything that they wish!
