Juniors, Time to go Buy Your Suits and Dresses!

by Dani Heller

Prom is a pivotal part of the typical high school experience, which was stripped from the current Irvington High School seniors last year due to the pandemic. Although it was announced earlier in the year that prom will be taking place again, it was not promised that the junior class would be permitted to attend as well. In a recent email from Ms. GM, it was announced to the Junior and Senior families that this previous restriction has been overturned. With the decreasing number of positive cases and a continuous effort to begin returning to normalcy, there are high hopes that this year’s prom will run similar to how prom has run in the past. Under the current restrictions, outside guests are not permitted to attend the Irvington prom, but this is subject to change as more information is obtained.

The prom is scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd from 6:30-10:00pm at the Ardsley Country Club. There seems to be a unanimous feeling of excitement from the Junior and Senior classes as they are finally able to attend this event under somewhat normal circumstances. Junior, Lizzie DeYonker stated, “Nobody thought we were going to be able to go. We thought it would be something like last year- maybe with our own prom outside of school. But everyone is really excited the restrictions were lifted so we can go.” Junior Olivia Baron had a similar positive opinion about the recent change in the prom restrictions. “I’m so excited that juniors will be able to attend prom again this year. I feel like prom is a really memorable and special part of one’s high school career so I’m glad we all get to experience it,” she stated.
