The Super Bowl continues to be the pinnacle of American sports, and this year’s match up is destined to be another historical matchup: the 14-3 Seahawks face off against the 14-3 Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Leading up to this game, these teams had recently played in their own respective championship games. In the NFC, the Seahawks clinched the NFC title in a tight 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Ram: division rivals who have proven themselves to be a seriously strong team. On the other side of the league, Drake Maye and the Patriots secured their AFC title with their defensive efforts and grit winning 10-7 over the Denver Broncos.
This game will mark the Seahawks’ fourth Super Bowl appearance and offers a chance of redemption for them to win it all after their heartbreaking loss in 2015 against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Commanding the Seahawks’ offense is quarterback Sam Darnold who has really turned his career around for the better. He has proven himself to be a reliable veteran who steadily conducts the offense, helping them find their success this season.
When Junior Jacob Turner was asked about his emotions on the game, he stated “I am excited to see my team get their revenge against the Patriots. I am confident in our ability to get the job done”.
For the Patriots, the Super Bowl is a familiar place for them after their recent dynasty under Bill Belichick. The Patriots are led by Drake Maye: a second-year standout out of University of North Carolina. Although many people are skeptical about how the Patriots will perform due to the lack of strength in their season, the Patriots and Maye continue to prove the haters wrong, continuing to win against top teams in the playoffs, showing off their grit and determination.
When Senior Danny Nyarady was asked about the Super Bowl, he put it simply: “I’m excited to see the Pats give belt”.
Even for those not interested in the score, the halftime show is set to be a sight to see. Global superstar Bad Bunny is set to perform on one of the greatest sports stages, bringing a Puerto Rican flair that won’t disappoint.
