Black Friday Frenzy

by Aaron Strow

Friday, November 28, this year’s Black Friday took place, bringing discounts to websites and crowds to in-person stores. Like any other year, some websites had better discounts than others, bringing in numerous shoppers and selling out all of their stock.

Some of the most popular places to buy new clothes this Black Friday included H&M, Zara, Nike and Lululemon. From these websites, sweatpants, shirts and accessories were ordered due to the substantial discounts and great offers.

Samuel Lee, a sophomore at Irvington High School reported that “when shopping at H&M, I was able to get great deals including almost 50% off on sweatpants and other accessories.”

Along with clothes, many popular shoe companies including Adidas, Nike, Birkenstock, and Yeezy offered great deals. Shoes like Adidas Sambas/Gazelles, Nike Air Jordans, New Balance 9060s, and Uggs were very popular within the mass of shoppers. As seen in Irvington High School, Uggs have been a massive staple shoe, being the go-to cozy and stylish shoe option for many of the students here at IHS.

“During Black Friday, I was able to get a really good deal for new Uggs and some other popular shoe brands.” says Wyatt Cloutman, a sophomore at Irvington High School.

Historically, Amazon has offered significant discounts on various jewelry brands during its Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale event, which runs from November 20 through December 1. During this year’s Black Friday event, Amazon featured sales of up to 40% off of jewelry from popular brands.

Due to the timing of Black Friday, many families were able to get great deals on Christmas gifts, without having to wait too much time for maintenance or processing. This was a great time to purchase those large gifts like televisions, Apple products, appliances, and school materials.
