Olivia Rodrigo is an American singer-songwriter and actress who became popular in around January 2021, when she released her hit debut single “Drivers License”. As of now, Rodgrio has put out 2 albums, and fans have been speculating that there could be a new album coming soon as she drops subtle hints.
The tour for her second album GUTS recently ended after a year and a half. Rodrigo has also been doing many festival performances. During a performance at the Osheaga Music & Arts Festival in Montreal on August 3, Rodrigo wore a shirt with a glittering number 3, something fans took as a possible hint to her next album.
Fans also took note of the red color of the shirt, pointing out that it could hint at the aesthetic and themes of her upcoming work.
While her past albums GUTS and SOUR explore the themes of first love, heartbreak, jealousy, self-doubt, and the overall obstacles of being a teenage girl, fans speculate that her new album could possibly be about personal growth and self reflection.
Personally, I think that this album could be about healing, reflective of the happy relationship she has been in for a year now, rather than the messy break ups that came before her previous releases.
There have also been theories about the potential title for the album circulating around the internet. The name “LUCK” has been especially popular because of Rodrigo’s fondness for polka dots, which could symbolize ladybugs, bugs that are traditionally considered lucky.
In a recent interview with Amex, Rodrigo confirmed that her third album is in production, saying “now I’m home and I’m working on my new album!”
“I’m so excited about the potential album because it’s kind of mysterious when talking and involves a lot of heartbreak,” says IHS sophomore Timothy Cario. “I heard that this new album is going to be called KISS, and is going to be more flirty and something new. I’m really excited because we haven’t heard any music from her for 2 years.”
Although there hasn’t been an official release date announced, I think that the album will be released sometime in late 2025 to early 2026. I personally am excited for the album to come out because I am very fond of her music style and lyrics. Once the album is released, be sure to give it a listen!
