On August 10th, well-known singer-songwriter Taylor Swift got engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. On August 25th, she took to Instagram to announce her engagement to the world.
Speculation about the price and weight of her ring soon began, with people estimating that the price ranged anywhere from $500,000 to 5 million. According to instyle.com, the ring is supposedly around 8-10 carats, but some sources say it could range up to 15 carats.
Taylor Swift’s engagement post quickly racked up millions of likes from fans. IHS students share a similar sentiment. “I’m really happy that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are getting engaged,” says Sophomore Mackenzie Lee. “I just feel like she has been through a lot in all her relationships. She gets ridiculed and shamed for it, but she’s really just trying everything out and trying to find the one. I’m glad she’s comfortable enough with this guy Travis Kelce to make the commitment and get married. “
“I really wish them the best, even though they’re celebrities and they don’t know who I am,” she adds. I think that’s a great way to say it, and I also wish them the best.
Taylor’s engagement isn’t her only big news. Her 12th studio album, Life of a Showgirl, announced on August 12th, is set to be released on October 3rd 2025. There will be 12 tracks on the album, one of them featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
Many IHS students are very excited for this album release. Among them is sophomore Emilia Doncov, who says “I’m so eager to hear Taylor’s new album Life of a Showgirl. I love to catch what Taylor is going to throw because she can be very unpredictable with her music styles. I can’t wait to dissect her lyrics of this new album.”
She goes on to mention the collaboration with Carpenter. “I’m especially excited to listen to the new song featuring Sabrina Carpenter. From the album covers released, I think this album is going to be different from what we’ve seen so far; I think it will be classy while being fun and extravagant!”
