Dr. Gail Duffy to Depart Irvington for Superintendent Role at Haldane

By Julia Welter

Dr. Gail Duffy, Irvington’s Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Human Resources, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of the Haldane Central School District. After four years of dedicated leadership in Irvington, Dr. Duffy will step into her new role at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Mara Ratesic announced the news in a message to the school community, highlighting Dr. Duffy’s significant contributions to the district. Throughout her time at Irvington, Dr. Duffy played a key role in curriculum development, instructional improvements, and faculty collaboration. She was also a pioneer in the district’s Portrait of a Graduate initiative, which aims to prepare students with the skills needed for success beyond high school.

“Her collaborative approach with faculty, staff, students, and parents has yielded significant improvements, leaving a lasting positive impact on the education and lives of our students and staff,” Dr. Ratesic wrote.

As Irvington prepares for Dr. Duffy’s departure, the district will begin a search for a new Assistant Superintendent. The hiring process will focus on finding an educational leader who can continue advancing Portrait of a Graduate and furthering the district’s commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Duffy will continue in her current role through the remainder of the school year. The Irvington school community is encouraged to thank her for her contributions and wish her well as she embarks on this next chapter in her career.
