The fall sports season wrapped up with stellar performances from Ethan Gartlan and Declan Lyons at the Class C State meet, however neither of them were selected for the Cross Country teams MVP award.
Anish Joshi, who led the Cross Country team in the majority of their meets is the MVP for the fall season. The captain ran a personal best of 16:14 at the Admiral Harrier meet.
Next, the senior defender, Asher Spodnik has been selected as the MVP for the Boys Soccer team. He led the team in goals and assists including a wonderful free kick goal on homecoming. Spodnik said “I was sad to see the season end the way it did, but I’m honored to be named MVP on such a talented team.”
The girls soccer team was bounced in the first round of sectionals, yet midfielder Allie Cloutman put in standout performances in many games. Cloutman dealt with an ankle injury throughout much of the season, but it did not hinder her.
Furthermore, Alex Hempstead who obtained “All League” honors is the MVP of the football team. The star receiver led the Bulldogs in nearly every statistical category including targets, catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
Kylie Canton is the MVP of the Irvington Volleyball team, Canton had a super season winning multiple athlete of the week awards and leading the Bulldogs to a first round sectional win and a blowout on homecoming. Canton said “The team had a great season and I’m very grateful to be MVP, although everyone contributed.”
Alyssum Wong, the captain of the joint swim team is the MVP for Swim and Dive. She led the team in and out of the pool with her stellar dives and guidance.
Finally, Alexis Canfin is the Varsity Field Hockey MVP as led the Dogs to a six seed at sectionals. She was awarded for her stellar play with an “All League” award.
While there were countless superstars on each team, these seven athletes separated themselves as the of the bunch.
