This year, the Modified Football team introduced the addition of 9th graders to the modified team. Adding 9th graders will hopefully allow the team to fill up with new leaders every year.
As the practices start, the team begins to get ready for the upcoming year. Having to play many different teams could be a challenge for our Bulldogs but with Coach Madison at the helm, his players believe they will be ready.
“I feel like it’s going to be a better experience than last year because of how I can become a better leader than I was last year since I’m now going to be 2 years older than new people coming into football. But with this new addition to 9th graders we have to play new teams but knowing us I feel like we’re ready for these new teams,” stated wide receiver Lucas Shapiro.
The new addition has brought many freshmen back to modified football and most are excited for the new experience the challenge may bring of playing new teams that they couldn’t have played last year.
“I like our team but with the new addition of 9th graders, it will provide a new experience for me as I will be a lot older than the newcomers that are playing football this year. We are going to play much bigger and better teams than last year. For example, we play Briarcliff twice Peekskill and Hendrick Hudson these new teams could strike a challenge in us this year but I believe that we can win at least 3 of the 4 of these new teams,” safety Keaton Cole thinks.
As we get closer and closer to the start of the season, the modified football season, I think the new addition of 9th graders will become something that helps the team for years to come.
