Senior Ana Bjorgvinsson is an amazing track runner who finished her winter season with so many accomplishments.
Despite her minor hip injury from the cross country season, she was able to push through the pain with the help of a lot of physical therapy. Bjorgvinsson and her team had workouts every other day for weeks straight, and she explains that the results were very apparent.
Bjorgvinsson’s goal for the season was to beat her personal record in the 1500 meter race from spring track last year. In order to achieve this, she explains how she was constantly training and practicing with her team.
As a result, she ended up qualifying for the Westchester County Championship meet. Bjorgvinsson says, “It was an honor, but also intimidating. The team as a whole went into the County Meet with the mindset of setting personal records, winning medals, etc, and it ended up being the case.”
Bjorgvinsson achieved an 8 second personal record to reach a 5:18 time. She speaks about how she owes it to the inspiration from watching her team do so well and having the coaches constantly supporting the team. Finally, Bjorgvinsson says “I’m very excited to see what we can bring in the spring with so many more girls joining, and I’m hoping to get an even bigger PR too.”
