The Varsity Boys Basketball team is gearing up for the regular season with tons of hard work.
Led by Head Coach Dave Boykin, the team has been practicing every day, including a 6:00 AM practice before school on Tuesday, November 21st. In a social media post, Coach Boykin said, “6AM, Breakfast Club. Let’s see who really wants it!”.
It is clear that many players really want it, since nearly half the team showed up to this optional practice.
They are ready to put in the hard work, led by Senior Captain Taoig Cypher. He said, “We’re working on dribbling and shooting, and we’re running a lot so that we don’t get gassed.”
Conditioning is always an important aspect of basketball, but especially for a team without an established big man. If they are going to run a small-ball lineup with Cypher being the tallest on the court at about 6 ‘3, they need to be conditioned. If you can’t out-size a team, you need to out-run them.
The “Breakfast Club” will continue getting ready for their first game on December 1st at the Warnock Basketball Tournament.
