On March 16, all of the Irvington schools went into a lock out. This means that no students or teachers can leave the schools however the day precedes as normal.
Yesterday morning the superintendent was notified by the local police that there was some police activity in Tarrytown, near Lyndhurst.
The police were pursuing a number of suspects who were thought to be involved in multiple burglaries.
It was reported that there was a car crashed by the entrance to the aqueduct. There were a number of local and state police near the crashed car. After crashing the car the suspects fled the scene from the cops.
Through the morning people could hear a police helicopter circling the area from the school.
The police have said that there is no reason to believe that there is a direct threat to the people or schools of Irvington.
At 11:50 the lockout was concluded as the police activity in the area was finished. There will be a normal dismissal however, there will be cops visible at the schools just as a reassurance.
