The Irvington Cross Country team had great success once again this week at the Section 1 Conference 3 Extravaganza on Tuesday, October 3, hosted by Woodlands High School.
Irvington came in first overall in the Boys 5000m. Senior Indy Minkoff took first place with an incredible time of 17 minutes and 42 seconds. Junior Anish Joshi got second place, finishing just a few seconds behind Indy at 17 minutes and 46 seconds. Sophomore Declan Lyons had his best race of the season, finishing in fifth place with a time of 18 minutes and 12 seconds.
Declan states, “The team grinded over the summer, and it’s nice to see the results are finally starting to show. I’m proud of how we ran and I expect great things from this team as the season goes on.”
Although the girls did not have enough participants for a team score, their hard work and dedication still showed. Senior Ana Bjorgvinsson’s impressive performance landed her in sixth place in the Girls 5000m with a time of 22 minutes and 45 seconds.
