The Girl’s Volleyball team has started off hot this season, going 6-2 through eight games.
They’ve looked dominant in their wins, on Tuesday, September 5th they beat North Salem 3-0. Caitlin Kropp had five kills while Nia Kilbury added six assists.
They followed that up with a 3-1 victory over Croton Harmon on Saturday, September 9. Sophomore Kylie Canton put up nine kills, six aces, 14 assists, and eight digs.
On Tuesday, Sept 12, the Bulldogs defeated Barack Obama School 3-0 behind a stellar performance from Ava Lenihan with five kills and eight aces en route to coming in 2nd place in the Briarcliff tournament.
They began to show the first chink in their armor. On Monday, September 18th they took their first and only loss against Dobbs Ferry, losing 3-0, and followed that with a loss against Yonkers Montessori 3-1.
The squad bounced back on Saturday, September 23th, beating Hastings 3-0 behind Jessica Nierman’s 10 kills.
On Tuesday September 26th, Irvington won 3-0 over Greenburgh-North Castle. Followed by another win the next day, 3-1 over Woodlands.
This team clearly has a ton of spirit and camaraderie. Senior Captain Emma Friedman said, “I’m so proud of how far this team has come and I can’t wait to see what we will continue to accomplish.”
Junior Captain Mia Cantillana added, “The team this year has been so amazing. We have all bonded and grown immensely. We hope to go far this season, and put in a lot of work on and off the court.”
The team’s leaders have a lot of confidence in their team as they look to continue their success for the remainder of the season.
