Last night, residents of the Irvington school district voted to pass next year’s district budget, the Capital project proposition and the voted in three trustees.
The 2022-23 total budget revenue was $68,475,000; the main contributor was Property taxes with $61,027,484. The 2023-24 proposed budget is $73,079,120; the main expenditure in the budget are salaries ($35,696,178). It passed easily with 466 votes in favor and 127 votes against.
There were three seats open for the board of trustees. They were filled by Brian Friedman with 469 votes, Jayne Wissner with 467 votes, and Dympna Kenny with 499 votes.
The Capital project proposition also passed with 479 people voting yes. The capital project aims to improve school safety, maintenance and infrastructure needs, energy conservation, and learning space modernization.
