It’s been four weeks since the Varsity Girls Softball season has started. In that time, they played 4 games, against Woodlands, Yonkers Montessori Academy (YMA), Croton, and Putnam Valley.
They won their first game 20-4 on Friday, March 24 against Woodlands. They had 5 innings with 3 hits each from Sofia Morabito and Kayla Clinton. Sammy Hirscheimer and Nia Kilbury both pitched and managed a combined 11 strikeouts.
The next week, they played at YMA on Monday, March 27. At this game, freshman Nia Kilbury went 2/3 and had a double, freshman Kayla Clinton also went 2/3, and junior Sam Weidler hit a double. Despite having to call the game due to poor weather, Irvington was able to clinch the win with a score of 8-4.
On Tuesday, March 28th, Irvington suffered their first loss of the season against Croton Harmon in which they lost 11-0.
On Thursday, March 30, they played against Putnam Valley. Kayla Clinton went 4/4 with a double and 2 RBIs.
With 2 losses and 2 wins, the results of the team’s future games are uncertain.
