Recently, a Chinese spy balloon was found to be floating across the U.S and this led to large concern and long debates between our politicians.
The already rocky relationship between the Chinese and the U.S was certainly not helped by this move and even stopped Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s planned trip to China.
The Chinese government has publicly claimed the balloon was simply a weather balloon which veered off course but the discovery of “high-tech equipment that could collect communications signals and other sensitive information” (Yilek) further proves it was most likely a spy balloon.
More concerning, there have been numerous other incidents involving flying objects. Three other unidentified objects have since been found over U.S and Canadian airspace.
What is China doing in our airspace? Why is China doing this now? These are all questions which can hopefully be answered soon.
