For the past three years, Color Wars has not been held for various reasons such as COVID-19. It is finally making its highly anticipated return on Friday, February 10th.
Color Wars is an event that takes all four grades (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) and pits them against each other. The goal of Color Wars is to win, and each grade can win by getting the most points.
Points can be achieved in a multitude of ways. For example, grades can get points by participating in the spirit week leading up to the event. This year, the spirit week consisted of a groutfit day, a Disney day, an anything but a backpack day, and a dishonest day.
The second way to get points is during the actual day of Color Wars through events. Grades can get points by winning events, and there are a variety of events such as Academic Challenge, Chess, Volleyball, and so much more.
Due to the exciting nature of this day and its absence for the past three years, many people are very excited about Color Wars.
Personally, I am very excited about Color Wars since it was something that I was looking forward to when I arrived in high school. I was very sad about its cancellation last year, so I was glad to hear that we were going to be having it this year.
Many others are excited too. Anil Huprikar, a sophomore at IHS, said, “I am very thrilled for Color Wars this year. I’m glad that we are finally able to take part in Color Wars, and I think it will be a very fun and energetic day.”
The last grade that took part in Color Wars was the current senior class who did it when they were freshmen. The other three grades have never experienced it, so it is sure to be a new and exciting experience for many.
No matter who wins, Color Wars will definitely be a day to remember.
