On Tuesday, December 7th, there was a small “explosion” in the quad after school on the Irvington High School campus due to an underground electrical short.
Smoke reportedly billowed from the ground in the center of the quad, now cordoned off with an orange safety fence.
No one was injured, and the custodial staff secured the area. The Irvington police and fire departments responded, along with ConEd, to inspect the scene and determined that it was safe for students to come into school the next day.
